Week 1: Environmental Design Course 1
Course Overview:
In the first class, the teacher introduced the specific content of environmental design and the differences between various projects, as well as what we have to do and the goals we have set in the past three years.

The possibility of entrepreneurship is also mentioned. If students are interested in entrepreneurship, they can learn how to present their designed products and business models to investors. The future may involve interdisciplinary collaborations, especially with fields such as computer science or multimedia design.

Teachers emphasize the importance of finger skills in environmental design, especially when communicating design ideas with clients or collaborations, where being able to quickly make partial sketches is key. Students will practice locating and illustrating and coloring using tools such as watercolor. Master 3D modeling software to create virtual models of buildings and spaces to present the overall effect of design solutions.

In the project, we analyze the existing designs in the market, need to understand the strengths and weaknesses of competitors, and propose improvement plans. We are encouraged to inspire our own design inspiration by studying competing products and come up with new ideas based on market demand.

Class review:
Through this course, I realized that design is not just aesthetics, it involves multiple dimensions such as user experience, market demand, and technical implementation. In future studies, I need to pay more attention to research and analysis and propose more creative design solutions based on actual needs.

Class exercises:
The teacher in class asked us to find architectural drawings of five-point perspective and two-point perspective, and asked us to draw perspective lines and horizontal lines.

Week 2: Environmental Design Course 2
Course Overview:
The teacher discussed with us the importance of perspective and spatial perception in understanding and depicting objects. Speaker 1 emphasized that by changing the observer's perspective and position, different visual effects can be produced. For example, the size of an object decreases with distance, and the top of an object is only visible when the observer's line of sight is higher than the object. Additionally, he mentioned the importance of imagination in the design process. It also explains how the perception of these objects can be changed by changing the position of the observer (e.g. looking from the ground, or looking down from an airplane) using some specific examples such as airports, hotels, etc. He also shared some drawing tips, such as using horizontal lines to represent the height of objects and how to use shadows to represent the direction of light.

The teacher also asked us to do drawing exercises in class, telling us how to draw a perspective three-dimensional diagram, and also asked us to find some buildings, building materials, roofs, etc. Let us draw some pictures based on these buildings next week.

Class review:
During the course, I found that I had many problems, such as not knowing the proper names, not knowing how to calculate the frame, and the picture being dirty and difficult to clean when I was painting. I will adjust my learning style in future courses.
Week 3: Environmental Design Course 3
Through the study of this class, I have a deeper knowledge and understanding of architectural performance in environmental design. Although there are still some shortcomings in the learning process, I believe that through continuous practice and improvement, I can gradually improve my painting level. In future studies, I will work harder to master the principles of perspective and painting techniques.

Week 4: Environmental Design Course 4
The teacher asked us to go further based on the 12 elevation drawings we drew last week, and asked us to draw 6 one-point perspective and two-point perspective respectively.

Week 5: Environmental Design Course 5
The teacher asked us to find some information or movies and imagine an abstract building on the drawing paper. We need to make some sketches on paper first and combine them into a building based on our imagination.

36 drafts

Week 6: Environmental Design Course 6
Based on the teacher's teaching last week, I made a sketch and designed based on the 13 design principles. I drew more than 30 sketches, and I also found some AI scene pictures from movie animations.

Week 7: Environmental Design Course 7
The teacher taught us how to use PS, tool panel adjustment, color filling, drawing, eraser tool and canvas size adjustment.
Let us combine the elements of the sketches drawn in week 6 and draw several sketches similar to scenes as a draft basis for the final drawing.

In the eighth week, we were an independent study week. The teacher asked us to imagine and draw the interior design based on the draft we drew in week 7 to show the teacher.
Reflection
I think I am not familiar enough with the functions of PS. After class, I will find some video tutorials on the Internet to learn. In the world draft part, I think the biggest difficulty is that when the elements are combined with the scene, sometimes they are drawn in a single way and have no design. feel. After class, I will look for some pictures on the website to come up with some good inspiration for my draft.
Week 9: Environmental Design Course 9
The eighth week was a self-study week and we had no classes. According to the teacher's requirements in the seventh week, I completed the improvement of the exterior architectural draft and interior design draft in the eighth and ninth week classes.
The teacher thought that the interior design of my draft was too simple and did not reflect its uniqueness.
Also, my draft of the building's exterior looked very messy without a before-and-after contrast. Later, I changed the sketch into a vine, but I still felt it was not good enough. I will continue to revise my draft next week.

Week 10: Environmental Design Course 10
This week I worked on my draft further, in class I finalised my architectural draft and had already pencilled my draft onto A3 paper, ready to outline, and I also drew up the interior design draft.

Week 11: Environmental Design Course 11
I did the final outlines and in class I drew the line drawings of the interior design in Photoshop.

Week 12: Environmental Design Course 12
Since the teacher had some family matters, we didn't have classes this week, so I colored the line drawings of the interior design.
Next week I will show my teacher the progress of my architecture and interior design.

Week 13: Environmental Design Course 13
I showed my work to the teacher in class, and he gave me some feedback. He thought I could draw a robot in my interior drawing, and the teacher said there was no problem with the exterior architectural drawing, but he changed our homework requirements. We were supposed to draw on paper and fill in with watercolors, but now we have to scan our line drawings on the machine, scan them into electronic versions, and then fill in the colors on PS.

Week 14: Environmental Design Course 14
We didn't have classes this week, so I imported the architectural line drawing into Photoshop. I found several color schemes for this painting, and finally I chose gray tones (orange, yellow, red, dark gray). I found a watercolor brush on Procreate and started the coloring process.

I have divided it into 33 layers in total.
Week 15: Environmental Design Course 15
I completed the color drafts of the indoor and outdoor buildings. I showed these two drawings to my teacher. The teacher said that the color of the circular building on the far left of my architectural drawing should be darker, so that it would be more obvious and the layers would be clearer.

The interior design teacher told me to add a few robots to make it look more stylish.
So I looked for some elements related to robots on the Internet.

I took some inspiration from these examples and modified the interior design. Here is the completed version.

In the final work I made an A2 poster, wrote the title, design ideas and inspiration.

Title:Floating Symphony(Sonata of Future Technology)

Content:
This painting mainly depicts the landscape of a future city. The towering and unique architectural form in the picture has a strong sense of futurism and technology, and may be a landmark building of the future. The surrounding buildings are arranged in a staggered manner, showcasing the diversity and complexity of future urban architecture through different geometric shapes and structural combinations. Various shapes of aircraft float in the air, implying the innovation and convenience of future transportation methods. The overall picture creates a city scene full of technological charm and future fantasy through the outline of lines and the rendering of colors. Focusing on future indoor scenes, it could be a technology laboratory or exhibition hall. The large circular device in the center of the screen and the surrounding circular structure give a visually striking sense of technology, as if it is the core hub of future technology. The surrounding robots have simple shapes and clear functions, reflecting the high application of future technology in artificial intelligence and automation. The layout and design of the entire space revolve around technological elements, showcasing the efficiency and intelligence of the future technological environment through the fluidity of lines and the sense of spatial hierarchy.
These two paintings, through unique color schemes, clever design ideas, and rich sources of inspiration, jointly construct a desirable future technological world.

Reflection:

Regarding the environmental design this semester, I fully realized the importance of painting for design. It is closely related to each of our subjects. We can draw some of our design ideas and inspirations on butter paper. It will lay a solid foundation for us to enter the software when we do design in the future. Regarding the software, I think I still lack some technical experience. In the future study and preview, I will learn from previous experience and lessons, and further study the use of software, which will help improve the convenience of using software in the future. However, regarding painting, I think I still have a certain foundation, but in the picture effect, I think my picture is too dirty and it will not look very concise, so in the future I will keep my picture clean, and I will also learn some hook lines and techniques on the Internet to prepare for future painting design.
