[WEEK 5]—Create survey questions

The teacher first asked us to make a document about the research questionnaire questions, with a target of 30 respondents and 15 to 20 questions (excluding demographics).
I divided it into three sections:
- Section A: Demographics
- Section B: Usage and preferences of NEO clothing stores
- Section C: Opinions on the spatial design of clothing retail stores
This is the document I made about the questionnaire questions.

[WEEK 6]—Questionnaire feedback modification and questionnaire creation

I showed the teacher the survey questions I made, and the teacher gave me some feedback. Regarding my survey questions, I should add a short sentence about the brand in the introduction of the title question as part of the introduction. In the demographics, I should delete the monthly income part, and in Section B, I should change the service in the multiple-choice question "What services or functions do you hope NEO clothing store will add?" to an interactive device. I changed the content according to the teacher's feedback and started to build a survey questionnaire and collect 30 respondents.

[WEEK 7]—Questionnaire statistical analysis, user persona, and user journey map establishment

From Week 6 to this week, I completed the research and analysis of the survey population in the PPT. The establishment of user persona and user journey map.
In class, the teacher gave me some feedback on my content:
- Some of the vocabulary summaries in the questionnaire need to be changed to young adult students.
- The challenges and pain points of the Elvis user in the first user persona can be added a little bit, and all user quotes should be written based on the research in the real questionnaire.
- The questionnaire did not place open questions for users to fill in, but it was too late because the number of people I did meet met the survey requirements.
- Regarding the user journey map, I did too few stages; I should add 4~5 regional processes
Based on the teacher’s feedback, I made some changes:
- I added 5 more areas to the User Journey Map, namely the display area, fitting room area, photo spot area, waiting area, and checkout area
- Changed the research statistics of the questionnaire and some minor issues in the User persona

[WEEK 8]—User journey map continues to change, and do keywords
I showed the teacher the user journey map that I had modified after the teacher gave me feedback last week, and the teacher gave me some feedback.
The teacher felt that the experience process of the clothing store I wrote about was too ordinary, without a good interactive experience, and it felt very ordinary. I can add two stages after the photo-taking and check-in stage. I also need to change the name of each stage and the names of these areas. Then, I also showed the teacher the keywords I made in class. The teacher said there was no problem, but I should focus on the keyword of genderless and research what patterns or styles are suitable for genderless elements. You can go online to find some information to learn more.
Emotional keywords:
Translate emotions into design cues:
Based on the teacher's feedback, I added three more stages to the user journey map: personalized customization, interactive experience, and consumer feedback capsule interactive stage.

[WEEK 9]—Moodboard completion and sketch painting
This week I finished building the Moodboard and sketched it.

Programme

I showed it to the teacher, and he gave me some feedback:
- Sustainability in the function and purpose page; replacing it does not count as a purpose
- Add touch bubble content to the installation content part and add it to the introduction
- Sketch part: The teacher said that the overall structure of my sketch is very similar to a bunch of rambutans and asked me to add and modify additional robotic arms and retro TVs and not to be so limited in structure. Then there is an interactive touch bubble thing; you can add a tube to the robotic arm to make it spit out bubbles
I continued to make some changes to the sketch structure and the addition of the robot arm, and I also drew sketches of several other structures. The teacher said that this first sketch after the improvement was completed was OK. So, I chose this as the final sketch.

The teacher said that I could model it in Blender in advance if I had time. After the modeling of this interactive device is completed, it can be directly put into the modeling of clothing store design.
I also made changes to the content that the teacher asked me to change.

[WEEK 10]—Modeling and PPT assignment 2 finalization
During the week from Week 9 to Week 10, I did some simple modeling on blender and finished the final PPT. I showed it to the teacher and he gave me some feedback.
The teacher said that the modeling I did on blender could continue to extend the design progress.
In the sketch part of the PPT, the teacher suggested that I could add some text titles to the final sketch, or what materials to use, etc. to optimize the design of this page.

Finally, I made some improvements to my PPT section.

Project 2: Personal Reflection
Looking back on my experience in the Space Design II assignment, I deeply realized my growth as a clothing store designer and problem solver.

At the beginning of the project, designing a questionnaire seemed simple, but it made me quickly realize the importance of clarity and relevance of questions. At first, it was difficult for me to come up with questions that could really obtain effective data on the NEO clothing store experience and space design preferences. After feedback and adjustments from the teacher, I realized that the survey needed to accurately target the target audience (such as young students), and the language and question settings should fit their cognition and habits.

During the construction of user portraits and user journey maps, I had a deeper understanding of "how to restore the real user experience". Initially, due to the lack of open questions in the questionnaire, the descriptions of pain points and challenges in the user portraits were empty. Later, supplementary research and improvement based on real feedback made the character image and experience process fuller. This made me understand that design cannot be done behind closed doors, but must be rooted in actual user interaction.

When designing mood boards and sketches, the balance between creativity and practice is a difficult problem. I want to combine keywords such as neutral, modern, and natural to create a unique atmosphere, but I am at a loss when it comes to integrating elements. After the teacher pointed out that the sketch had a single structure, I tried to add elements such as robotic arms and retro TVs. In the process, I learned to find a fulcrum between creative divergence and practical feasibility, and understood that design should be bold and innovative, but also consider the logic of implementation.

In the final stage of modeling and PPT, I realized that there is no end to the polishing of details. When modeling with Blender, although the simple model can present the concept, there is still a lot of room to expand the design progress; the sketch page in the PPT lacks integrity due to the lack of titles, material descriptions, etc. This reminds me that whether it is design or display, we must pay attention to every detail to make the work more convincing from creativity to presentation.

Throughout the project, from research, analysis to design presentation, every step of frustration and adjustment has taught me to accept feedback and iterate optimization. I realize that space design is not just visual creation, but also a systematic project to understand users, coordinate functions and aesthetics, and constantly polish details. In the future, I will take these reflections with me, pay more attention to the depth of preliminary research, the integration of user perspectives in the design process, and the integrity of the final presentation, so that the overall design of my final Assignment clothing store is both "interesting" and "meaningful".
